Ziggy Marley

David Nesta "Ziggy" Marley is an eight-time Grammy Award-winning Jamaican reggae musician, activist, author, and cultural ambassador who has carried forward the spiritual and musical banner of Rastafari and universal love pioneered by his iconic parents, Bob and Rita Marley. Born on October 17, 1968, in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy grew up immersed in the vibrant creative cauldron of Tuff Gong studios, performing on stage with his father at the legendary One Love Peace Concert in 1978 at just ten years old.

In 1979, Ziggy formed the Melody Makers alongside his siblings Cedella, Stephen, and Sharon Marley. With albums like Conscious Party (1988) and One Bright Day (1989), featuring worldwide smash hits like "Tomorrow People" and "Look Who's Dancing", the group achieved multi-platinum global success, winning three Grammy Awards and introducing reggae to a new generation of listeners worldwide.

Launching a triumphant solo career with 2003's Dragonfly, followed by the Grammy-winning albums Love Is My Religion (2006), Ziggy Marley in Concert (2013), and his self-titled 2016 masterpiece, Marley demonstrated profound songwriting maturity, fusing traditional roots reggae with rock, blues, and world music. Beyond music, Ziggy is a passionate philanthropist through his U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment) foundation, supporting education and healthcare for underprivileged children in Jamaica and Africa.
