Krystal Jung

Krystal Jung was born on October 24, 1994, in San Francisco, California, to South Korean immigrant parents. While on vacation in South Korea in early 2000, she and her sister Jessica Jung were scouted by talent agency SM Entertainment. Enrolling at Korea Kent Foreign School and later studying Theatre and Film at Sungkyunkwan University, Krystal debuted in September 2009 as the lead vocalist of experimental K-pop girl group f(x).

With chart-topping hits including 'Nu ABO', 'Hot Summer', 'Electric Shock', 'Rum Pum Pum Pum', and the avant-garde electro-pop album 'Pink Tape' (the only K-pop album featured in Fuse TV's 41 Best Albums of 2013), f(x) revolutionized the K-pop aesthetic with high-fashion concepts and innovative production. Concurrently, Krystal made an effortless transition into television acting, earning widespread acclaim in 'High Kick 3', 'The Heirs' (2013), 'My Lovely Girl' (2014), and 'Prison Playbook' (2017).

Her acting career reached cinematic maturity with her role as a fiercely pregnant university student in the indie comedy 'More Than Family' (2020), earning nominations at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards. In 2023, she starred in Kim Jee-woon’s acclaimed period comedy-drama 'Cobweb', which received a standing ovation at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. She also serves as a global ambassador for luxury fashion houses including Ralph Lauren and Charles & Keith.
