Guy Sebastian

Guy Sebastian was born on October 26, 1981, in Klang, Malaysia, to an Anglo-Indian and ethnic Sri Lankan Tamil father and an Anglo-Indian mother, moving to Melbourne and then Adelaide, Australia, at age six. In November 2003, Sebastian captured national fame when he was crowned the winner of the inaugural season of 'Australian Idol' at the Sydney Opera House.

His debut winner's single, 'Angels Brought Me Here', debuted at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart and became the fastest-selling single in Australian chart history, being certified 5x Platinum. Over the ensuing two decades, Sebastian established himself as a premier soul-pop vocalist, releasing hits such as 'Battle Scars' (featuring Lupe Fiasco, certified 12x Platinum in Australia and Platinum in the US), 'Like It Like That', 'Choir', and 'Before I Go'. In 2015, Sebastian was chosen to represent Australia in its historic first-ever entry into the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, finishing fifth with 'Tonight Again'. A long-running coach on 'The Voice Australia' (winning the show four times), Sebastian was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours for significant service to the music industry and charitable initiatives.
