Jeff Probst is a four-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning American television host, executive producer, and author best known as the iconic host and guiding creative force of Survivor since 2000.
Jeffrey Lee Probst was born in Wichita, Kansas, on November 4, 1961, and grew up in Bellevue, Washington. Graduating from Newport High School, he studied at Seattle Pacific University before working as a producer and narrator for corporate videos. He entered broadcast television hosting shows for FX and VH1 before auditioning in 2000 for a revolutionary new reality television experiment created by Mark Burnett: Survivor.
Premiering on CBS in the summer of 2000 on the remote Malaysian island of Pulau Tiga, Survivor: Borneo became an unprecedented cultural phenomenon, watched by over 50 million viewers during its season finale. Probst quickly established himself as an indispensable television presence, steering tribal councils with surgical psychological precision, narrating grueling physical endurance challenges, and coining iconic television catchphrases including "The tribe has spoken" and "Come on in, guys!"
As host and executive producer of more than 45 seasons across two decades, Probst won four consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program (2008–2011).
