Yokozuna

Rodney Agatupu Anoaʻi was born on October 2, 1966, in San Francisco into the revered Samoan Anoaʻi wrestling family, which includes The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Rikishi. Trained by his legendary uncle Afa the Wild Samoan, Anoaʻi wrestled in Japan and Mexico before debuting in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1992 portrayed as a dominant sumo grand champion managed by Mr. Fuji.

Weighing over 500 pounds, Yokozuna possessed astonishing physical agility, leaping into the air to execute spinning savate kicks, belly-to-belly suplexes, and his devastating corner-rope seated senton finisher, the 'Banzai Drop'. In January 1993, he won the 30-man Royal Rumble match, earning a world title shot at WrestleMania IX where he defeated Bret 'Hitman' Hart to win his first WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

He headlined consecutive WrestleManias, defeated Hulk Hogan at King of the Ring 1993, and held the WWF Tag Team Championship with Owen Hart. Known outside the ring as a gentle, beloved family man, Anoaʻi passed away during an international tour in Liverpool on October 23, 2000. In 2012, he was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his cousins The Usos.
