"Weird Al" Yankovic

Alfred Matthew Yankovic was born on October 23, 1959, in Downey, California. Taking accordion lessons as a child and recording tape submissions in his bedroom for Dr. Demento’s comedy radio show, Yankovic became a national sensation in the early 1980s with spot-on musical parodies that aired on the newly launched MTV network.

With Michael Jackson’s enthusiastic blessing, Yankovic scored worldwide smash hits with 'Eat It' (parody of 'Beat It') and 'Fat' (parody of 'Bad'). Over four decades, having a song parodied by 'Weird Al' came to be regarded across the music industry as the ultimate badge of mainstream stardom, acknowledged by icons from Kurt Cobain ('Smells Like Nirvana') to Coolio ('Amish Paradise') and Chamillionaire ('White & Nerdy').

In 2014, his fourteenth studio album 'Mandatory Fun' made Billboard history by becoming the first comedy album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in over five decades. With an untarnished reputation for razor-sharp wit, musical virtuosity, and warm wholesomeness, Yankovic was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018.
