Life & Legacy Overview

Sir Roger George Moore KBE was an acclaimed English actor who achieved global cinematic immortality as the third actor to portray secret agent James Bond in the Eon Productions film series. Playing Agent 007 in seven consecutive films from Live and Let Die (1973) to A View to a Kill (1985), Moore brought a distinctive sophistication, charming debonair wit, and self-effacing humor to the iconic British spy franchise.

Born in Stockwell, London, Moore studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) before establishing himself as a marquee television star in the 1960s, notably portraying the dashing adventurer Simon Templar in The Saint (1962–1969) and Lord Brett Sinclair alongside Tony Curtis in The Persuaders! (1971–1972).

Deeply moved by the poverty he witnessed while filming Octopussy in India, Moore was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991 at the invitation of Audrey Hepburn. For the next 26 years, he traveled tirelessly worldwide advocating for child health, HIV/AIDS awareness, and famine relief. In 2003, Queen Elizabeth II appointed him a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in recognition of his extraordinary humanitarian services.
