Born in Lahore, Javaid began his musical journey in the mid-2000s, writing and composing original soul-rock and Sufi-infused tracks. His song "Dard-e-Tanhai" caught the attention of veteran Bollywood producer Mahesh Bhatt, who incorporated it as the centerpiece soundtrack of the Vishesh Films musical romance <em>Jashnn</em> (2009).
