Nemanja Vidić

Nemanja Vidić was born on October 21, 1981, in Titovo Užice, Serbia. Emerging through the youth ranks of Red Star Belgrade, he captained the club to a domestic double in 2004 before moving to Spartak Moscow. On Christmas Day 2005, Sir Alex Ferguson signed Vidić for Manchester United for £7 million, initiating an historic era of defensive supremacy.

Partnering with Rio Ferdinand, Vidić forged what is widely considered the greatest central defensive partnership in Premier League history. Renowned for his uncompromising physical bravery, aerial dominance, and surgical tackling, Vidić anchored the United defense during their historic 2008–09 run of fourteen consecutive clean sheets (1,311 minutes without conceding a goal), setting a world record in top-flight football.

Vidić won five Premier League titles (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013), three League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2008 UEFA Champions League against Chelsea in Moscow. In 2010, Ferguson appointed him club captain. Vidić was named Premier League Player of the Season in both 2008–09 and 2010–11, joining Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kevin De Bruyne as the only multi-time winners in history. Representing Serbia at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, Vidić retired in 2016, inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame shortlist.
